Here's what the next three months actually look like.
The food scene is turning over, not spreading out
The interesting movement this year isn't new construction. It's operators cycling through the buildings already on your route.
- Smash Hit Burgers took its first brick-and-mortar into the former Nest space in downtown Kennesaw after Zac and Myah Patterson spent a couple of years running food trucks and picking up back-to-back Best Food Truck in Georgia awards.
- Prohibition Co. opens Friday, July 3, at 4 p.m. in the former SuBourbon Bar & Social Club space in downtown Kennesaw, from H Restaurant Group, with a 1920s speakeasy format that shifts the address to smoke-free, family-friendly.
- West Park Sports Club opened April 20, 2026, in the former Red Hare Brewing & Distilling space at 29 West Park Square on Marietta Square, from Fork U Concepts, the group behind Taqueria Tsunami and Stockyard Burgers and Bones, with a menu that runs from crispy rice with tuna to bulgogi cheesesteak sliders.
- Wayback Burgers is targeting a fall 2026 opening at 2774 Cobb Pkwy NW in Kennesaw, in a 1,606-square-foot space between Mattress Lux and Suzie's Wings and Deli.
- Antika, a small-plates concept near Marietta Square, is coming in from owner Su Mentes next door to Kiosko, with 35 to 40 indoor seats, a patio with a city-painted mural and a historic magnolia tree, and live music planned on the patio.
Read that list together and a pattern shows up. Four of the five sit inside buildings that were already restaurants. The one ground-up build is a national chain slotting into an existing strip. West Cobb residents aren't getting a new destination district this fall. They're getting fresh reasons to revisit the corners they already drive through.
Marietta Square in particular is worth a second look. The Ted's Montana Grill project that received historic review approval in 2025 was canceled on January 8, 2026, with leadership citing negative social media feedback, leaving the long-vacant North Park Square property undeveloped again. That's the counterpoint to Antika and West Park Sports Club moving in. The square is being reshaped one storefront at a time, and the shape depends on which operators actually finish.
The Friday-night lineup has a rhythm worth learning
Kennesaw's Kennesaw Concert Series, presented by Wellstar Health System, returns in 2026 for its third year at the United Bankshares Amphitheater at Depot Park with free concerts all season. Marietta's Glover Park series is marking a milestone this year too, its 40th anniversary of free concerts under the Cobb County outdoor season. Both series stack neatly across late summer and fall.

The Marietta lineup is free to attend, with tables available to reserve online for a fee on the City of Marietta website. Kennesaw's First Friday runs 7 to 9 p.m., free, with VIP seating available. If you've been living the "we should do more outside things" version of yourself since March, this is the two-month window where it's easiest to actually follow through.
The weekend anchors that don't change
Some things stay put on purpose. The Marietta Square Art Walk runs the first Friday of each month, which means the September First Friday concert in Kennesaw pairs cleanly with the Art Walk down the road the same night. The Greater Atlanta Coin Show hits Marietta the first or second Sunday of each month, and Hyde Farm Walking Tours run the second Saturday if a slower pace fits the weekend better.
Saturday mornings still belong to the Acworth Farmers Market at Logan Farm Park, and Logan Farm keeps drawing programming beyond the market itself. For families closer to Dallas Highway, the West Cobb Regional Library at 1750 Dennis Kemp Lane in Kennesaw runs its Wednesday morning family programming designed for ages 2 to 7, no registration required. That library is also one of two Cobb branches offering passport services, along with Mountain View. Worth remembering the next time a school break trip forces a renewal.
The West Cobb Aquatic Center at 3675 Macland Rd in Powder Springs shifts into fall swim lesson registration once school is back, and Cobb PARKS opens the annual sequence of youth sports and holiday markets running out of Sewell Mill Cultural Center, Mable House Arts Center, The Art Place-Mountain View, and The Art Station-Big Shanty.
Holiday season is already on the calendar
The Christmas events don't sneak up if you know where to look in September. Here's what's already published for the West Cobb-adjacent corridor.
Polar Express Night at Barnes & Noble at The Avenue West Cobb, 3625 Dallas Highway. A 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. reading of "The Polar Express" on Dec. 5 with themed activities, complimentary hot cocoa, and families encouraged to come in pajamas.
Powder Springs Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. Parade from Marietta Street to downtown Powder Springs at 6:30 p.m., tree lighting at 7:30 p.m. in Thurman Springs Park, with complimentary cocoa, cookies, and photos with Santa.
Powder Springs Reindeer Scavenger Hunt. Dec. 3 to Jan. 4 throughout the city; follow the clues to find each reindeer, write down the location, and follow the clues to a treat.
Santa in the Gardens at Smith-Gilbert Gardens, 2382 Pine Mountain Road in Kennesaw. 4 to 7 p.m. story times at 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m., pre-registration required, $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 17.
Candy Cane Lane. 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Kennesaw Recreation Center and Ben Robertson Community Center, with sights, sounds, and holiday goodies to stroll through.
Two things stand out here. First, the West Cobb holiday circuit is unusually walkable by neighborhood standards. Thurman Springs Park, Depot Park, Smith-Gilbert Gardens, and The Avenue West Cobb are all within a fifteen-minute drive of each other along familiar corridors. Second, the pre-registration events fill quickly. Smith-Gilbert's Santa evening in particular has capped in past years by mid-November.
Four addresses will carry your fall
If the calendar feels like too much to track, the pragmatic version is short. Most of what happens in West Cobb between Labor Day and New Year's runs through the same handful of places.
